Islamabad United have a rich history in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), having lifted the trophy in 2016 and 2018. They will be aiming to add a third title to their cabinet in the ninth edition of the tournament.
The team, led by Shadab Khan, had a decent run in the previous season, finishing third on the points table and reaching the first eliminator, where they lost to Peshawar Zalmi.
The PSL 9 will be staged across four venues Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi with the grand finale scheduled at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on March 18.
The tournament will follow a two-leg format, with the first leg featuring 14 matches at the Multan Cricket Stadium and the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from February 17 to 27. The second leg will see 16 matches at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi and the National Bank Stadium in Karachi from February 28 to March 12. The playoffs will then shift to Karachi entirely.
